They say that trips are lived three times:
when you plan them, when you live them and when you remember them. The main and
first step is Planning: this will include the date to choose, the cities to
visit, the number of days per city, the transportation methods to use, the type
of accommodation, among others. Here is a short list when you want to travel
alone:
1. Required documentation
Have a valid passport and have accurate information according to your nationality if you can enter certain countries without a visa. Otherwise you will have to manage it. Australia for example, (depending on your nationality) can also ask you for hotel reservations; certain amount of money per day; travel insurance. Also in other countries, certain vaccines may be required for entry.
2. Review timing
Choose the date according to your interests and tastes. There are great discounts on trips on certain dates, but remember that winter can be very harsh in some places or very hot summer if we are not in the coastal area. On certain dates, there are destinations that are more prone to strong winds or may have small cyclones or hurricanes. Find out about this point well.
3. The passages
In the event that you get your tickets online, all the data must be as it appears in the passport or travel document. Any problem with that could cost you your ticket! If you are not sure how to do this, you should go to a friendly travel agency.
4. Airports
Always be punctual with the schedules established at the airports for domestic flights (two hours before) and international (three hours before). These hours are those indicated in Sydney. Be careful with what we carry in hand luggage that does not violate the airport regulations or the airline. Take into account the maximum weight per suitcase or the number of packages allowed. Remember that some countries may ask us for our return trip as an entry requirement.
5. Know the culture of the place you are going to
Be informed about the culture and religion of the places we visit. This will include the type of clothing necessary to enter certain temples for example.
6. Make an itinerary
The number of days I visit the city will depend on the amount of things I want to visit in it, if you have a few days it is not bad to have a detailed itinerary.
7. What do you want to know in the city you are going to?
Find out what you are really passionate about. Do you like visiting museums? Do you like visiting shops, churches? It is likely that you need more time to visit them than other people, think about it when calculating the number of days of stay per city.
8. Be cautious
Have information from the Embassy, Consulate of the country of origin. It is worth having the phone numbers of the medical insurance / credit card at hand for any eventuality.
9. Where are you going to stay?
Choose the accommodation in line with your profile, budget and desire to satisfy people. For example, if you want to meet more people like you or perhaps a future travel companion, you should stay in a hostel, (even if it is in a private room) that will put you in contact with other people on the same page.
10. Your luggage
Choosing between a suitcase or a backpack will depend on the way you travel, and the comfort. But remember not to carry too many things. Always wear a jacket, the transports always have the air conditioning on.
11. Take time to plan the trip
If you already have your tickets, the more advance you have in hiring some tourist services, it is likely that you will find them cheaper than if you do it on the date.
12. Be careful
At the airport, be careful with your luggage and the luggage of others, you can be in the middle of an unpleasant situation.
13. Enjoy!
Enjoy the destination as if you probably did not know anything about it.
